In Partnership with our Community

Bonfils' 2007 business plan is centered on one strategic objective: Strengthen the value of our relationship to all stakeholders as Colorado's community blood center. The activities supporting this objective focus on two priorities:

  • Provide a safe, adequate and efficiently produced blood supply
  • Build integrated and effective partnerships to improve patient outcomes

In surveys and site visits you consistently give us high marks for our performance in providing a safe blood supply and meeting your patients' transfusion needs.  But you also have told us this is not enough. Our pricing must be more competitive, even while we continuously improve the quality of our operations and product safety.

In 2007 we will continue the intense efforts to improve efficiencies in our organization and to provide additional value to our clients by:

  • Implementing ISBT 128 labeling standard;
  • Evaluating and implementing Chagas disease screening;
  • Implementing recommendations to reduce the incidence of TRALI;
  • Improving automation and process controls in blood product collection, testing and manufacturing; and
  • Introducing a pre-storage pooled cryoprecipitate antihemophilic factor product.

These topics and more will be explored in this and future issues of Connections. We hope we stimulate your thinking. We want you to know we are acting on your ideas, concerns and feedback while at the same time retaining our commitment to the community to save and enhance lives.

Sincerely,

Thomas C. Puckett
President and Chief Executive Officer
